Weekly online meditation sessions

Your biggest challenge as a meditator, especially if you are a beginner, is that of meditating regularly! Most of those who learn how to meditate, cite this as a major challenge.

Knowing to meditate is not enough. The only way to get value is to actually practice meditation daily. In that sense meditation is much like exercise, diet, or any other practice that we know is good for us. Only regular practice is ultimately beneficial for us

This is why I created the weekly online meditation sessions: to help you establish your meditation practice.

Why is meditation so hard to practice?

Meditation as a practice is actually very simple. You can learn the basics of meditation in less than half an hour. However, to actually practice meditation regularly turns out to be significantly tougher than imagined.

The main challenge is that you need to use your mind to calm down or observe your mind – the very tool that will often attempt to do anything to get away from meditation! 😉 Your mind has formed deep habit patterns over many decades of distraction. Breaking this pattern can be a challenge if you have not established a meditation habit.

What are the benefits of joining the weekly online meditation sessions ?

When your solo meditation practice begins to flag, it helps to meditate in a group. The main focus for the weekly online meditation sessions is to help you deepen or even re-establish your personal meditation practice.

You can use the enthusiasm of the meditation group as well as the group’s energy to further your meditation practice. This is true even if you are not physically co-located with the meditation group. The simple act of meditating together can do the magic!

Why are the weekly meditation sessions online? Why not in-person?

The main reason for keeping the meditation sessions online is to help you to experience the benefits of meditating in a group while sitting in the comfort of your home. Obviously the online group experience will be somewhat different from physically sitting with a group, but simply meeting weekly can aid you in deepening your practice, especially if constraints prevent you from meeting meditators in person.

What are the timings for the weekly online meditation sessions ?

Currently the timings for these sessions are from 8.30 AM to 9.10 AM Indian Standard Time every week.

Do I need any special software to access these meditation meetings?

All you need is a

  • Laptop or desktop computer OR a smart phone
  • An internet connection with sufficient bandwidth
  • The free video conferencing software Zoom. Zoom supports most desktop as well as mobile operating systems and is available for free.
